Last weekend, ACT Director Kat Harhai attended the 2015 conference put on by the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE). At the conference, Kat had the opportunity to meet professionals working in the field of environmental education, hear about the work of a variety of groups and organizations, and learn about the topic of this year's conference: Building a Stronger and More Inclusive Movement.
At the four-day conference held in San Diego, Kat attended a number of sessions, keynote speakers, events, as well as the accompanying research symposium. Among the sessions she attended were 'Education Equity Through Citizen Science,' 'Place Based Education: Getting Students Outdoors,' and 'Strategies to Increase Marginalized Girls' Access to STEM.' Kat is looking forward to applying all that she learned at the conference to her work with ACT, and to continue to learn more about the ways we can make environmental education more equitable, accessible, and inclusive.
